Faculty Traveling Seminar
Fact Sheet

Seminar Dates: Monday, June 2, through Friday, June 6, 2008
   
Description: This five-day, four-night bus journey kicks off Monday morning, following a buffet breakfast at the Piscataway home of President Richard L. McCormick, and ends by 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
   
Selection Criteria: Tenured or tenure-track faculty appointed between January 2004 and the present; newly appointed department chairs; and newly tenured faculty are eligible to apply. Also, a limited number of newly appointed senior academic administrators and deans will be invited to apply. Selection priority will be given to those who are new to New Jersey.
   
Time Commitment: Participants are expected to spend five days and four nights as part of the group, immersed in travel, activities, meetings, and meals.
   
Meals and Lodging: All transportation, dining, and hotel arrangements are provided by the university through nonstate sources of funding.
   
Application Deadline: Applications must be received in the Office of Community Affairs by Monday, February 4, 2008.
   
Notification: Participants selected for the seminar will be notified by the first week in March 2008.
   
Orientation: Group orientation will take place on Tuesday, May 6, 2008. Participants will learn about the program and details on the travel route, and obtain an itinerary.
